I have decided to stop hunting.

Was running the dog on the non-stocking days on public land.

Last time on public land, I Hiked way back, to the last field.

Let the dog loose. She is not "perfect". She pointed a bird, she held. great!

The bird flushed, 4 shots. Wasn't me. 2 guys were coming in from another field.

It was a bit much. Dealt with the other guys, asked why they shot over my dog?

No confrontation, but I was not happy.

That was the last bird hunt for us.

Why give up so easily?  That's part of hunting public land.  Good thing you don't duck or deer hunt.

Is that a brindle?...I'm looking at the neck. Mine's a brindle...coloration like a black-and-tan or Rottie. There were two brindles in the litter. People seem to avoid them, they were the last ones left. Great dog it is.

This is a shame NJT...I know how much that dog means to you.

Maybe you can find some other spots...join a club, hunt release areas, etc.

nothing will ever work like otters tavern fishing thread. we can try. I want to hunt something with my shotgun. something delicious. but I don't want to blast some poor bird into feathers & mist with a 12 gage. im right near a game reserve where they stock the pheasant and got good ducks. my uncle gets loaded and goes & blasts them. says the pheasants run up to you looking for corn but then you have to watch out for the people shooting at them. im not sure what to do. I have a lab who surfs. can he help? please note that id feel bad killing bambi but not eating it

There was a group that really messed-up our waterfowl hunting on private land for a couple of years. We both had permission on some properties. One great goose/duck field had a good-sized ditch through it, and sometimes there'd be puddles in the cut corn. We get there early one day...it got like that...you had to be real early, and we'd usually beat them...if not, we'd go someplace else. One day we're all set up, they come in late and start setting up 30 yds away. We said come down with us, it's doable today. Nope. So we decided to wreck the hunting as long as they were there by walking around. It worked, but the best flying time was pretty much shot.

Buckeye or something . . . my brother made all the arrangements. I've never paid to go on a deer hunt in my life so I took a lot of convincing. The deer his buddy got last year was the final kicker. Let me see if I can find the pic in my gallery.

Gallery is still down, but I found a copy on my home 'puter.

Todays big buck shoud be the "James Jordan" beast which is 100 years old now and still by favorite typical tue to the heavyness of this rack.
