Once again, LIGHTS AT NIGHT

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone knows why the hell someone would fish at night , in a quiet backwater location with ambient light from houses, with their ******* headlamp on??!! Oh yeah, not just 1 knucklehead , but 2 of them who arrived together. No bite anyway but these two would have killed it if it happened. Not surprised to see a couple of guys on Memorial Day, but at 2:30 AM I was surprised to see this kind of foolishness. Oh well, moved on and did OK.

was at demo one night  and a group of guys pull up to my area   [why I don't know  ,miles of beach to fish and park next to me,must be afraid of dark]  ,soon on goes the head lamps and the beer cans popping ,must of been 6 of them ,was like a laser show ,with rays of light going in every direction, why do you need headlamps for beer drinking……….morning came  and I picked up over a case of cans……..

Hey Pak, why do you think I skipped last night? Memorial Day WE brings out the bozos but at 2:30 you wouldn't expect it. Glad you moved on and nailed em. Same area two years ago SB and I moved away from the lights on, loud talking, splashing crowd and did better than OK with fish to 25#s while the crowd struck out. We were less than 100 yards from them but they never knew it. Stealth works.

Stealth is the only way to go these days, wetsuit or Black hoodie, red light when absolutely necessary , even parking in another spot and walking 15 minutes. Still, a beautiful sunrise this AM , blessed to be here.

I had a similar experience, but it was two clowns in an aluminum boat. No running lights on the boat at all. I heard them approaching where I was wading, but couldn't see them at all. Had to turn my headlamp on because I was afraid they'd run me over. They ended up beaching the boat about 15 yards from me and proceeded to thrash around the shore with their spot lights looking for crabs (I think that's what I heard them say). They moved the boat several times either side of me and repeated the process. They basically spooked every fish within a 1/2 mile radius of me with their loud antics. I had figured they'd give me a little space once they saw my headlamp, but no dice. Miles of shoreline with nobody else around, and these clowns just had to pick my spot.

Unreal. Same guys that post pics of 26" inch bass coated completely in sand like a striper cutlet. Headlamp ON while fishing at nite??? May as well throw m80's in the water. My necklite is for emergencies basically, or landing large if absolutely needed.

You have to aim directly below the headlamp.

As cptjck said I've also been witness to laser light shows at demo. I hate when I'm fishing , not bothering a soul, and some clown turns on headlights pointing at me and sits in his car for a good 20-30 minutes before leaving or stepping out.

I mean even if there was no fish, just have courtesy , pleasure it hurts people's eyes when they adjust to darkness and then have led lights pointed right into their eyes all of a sudden.

I've only been fishing in the dark a handful of time.  The few times I've gone I was careful with my lights.  With that being said is their any hard evidence backed up by tests to show fish sensitivity to light?  I cant see it being that big of a deal since some deep water fish produce light to attract prey.
