On even number days the slot must be taken first as long as it is an odd numbered month. In even numbered months, the slot fish must be taken second on even days, on odd days it must be taken third if caught at night but can be first if taken during the day.

I don't know why it causes confusion. There was a problem years back when the limit was 24-27.9999" (I don't remember the exact regs at the time) but many couldn't get it straight.

We are still operating on last years regulations.  the new regs have not beedn approved yet, hence the delay.

Could it be that the Feds will do their job and require all states to get in line with a 1 @ 28+" rule?

Not a chance. If NJ is not signed i believe it goes into effect 5/1/2015 anyway

The ASMFC did their job. They allowed conservations equivelancy and NJ took them up on the offer. NJ met the required 25% reduction with the new regulations and at this point it is a done deal. While I think that NJ is beyond stupid with their decision for a 2 fish bag limit, they technically did nothing wrong.

Agree with you Charlie, but we can still make the right decision despite what the regs state.

Yes, technically... but other states did the right thing. NJ  ignoring the will of the public - just flat out wrong.

There is no way the "new" NJ regs will meet a 25% reduction. It's 2014 vs 2015 status quo in NJ. Nothing changed. Even the guidelines followed everywhere else will only get a 25% reduction maybe. Maybe = 50% chance of success. I'm sort of PO'd about all the jetty covering and notching going on but maybe a few bass will get through because coming inshore at night won't happen. The old silver ling thing.
