I have a chance to fish off West Haven, Ct. the upcoming weekends and was wondering what bait would be best. I will be fishing from shore with a surf setup. Thanks

I keep trying to stay a float but can't help from shooting holes in my boat.

Chunks of bunker (Menhaden) or Mackeral. Can be purchased from any local shop.

I think you want to be fishing downriver in any of the major rivers i.e. Thames, Housatonic, jigging the deep spots. Definitely not out front on the sound side.

I want to put some time in this year below the derby dam , out to stratford. Does anyone have any pointers? I seem to spend a lot of time casting and not a lot of time catching in the spots I have been hitting. They are, below the dam on the derby side and o Sullivan's park.

Find structure and you'll find the fish.

Fish lower , between there and the parkway.
