The Hook IS closed due to the government shutdown

. I had to make a delivery for my co. at the MAST school today. Signs on 36, signs before the entrance, and a guard stopping you at the gate. One guy with NY plates in front of me getting turned away, guess he's been living in a hole the last few days

. Water looked fishy, there were some construction guys working in the parking lots, don't know if they were working on the "fishing beach" area. Was thinking about sneaking on to the beach, but the work truck has GPS, the boss would have been wondering where Lot K was

Are the croakers still hitting in Raritan bay ??

Couple buddies I know that have been been targeting them say the bit has really died down.

Sudsy:

They were blitzing Saturday and so were the Seabass.

Not a single croaker or spot in the place that's been money for me all season long.
Small seabass up the wazoo and a bunch of eels, that was it, entire outgoing tide.

Cleaning and packing up all the fluke and croaker gear and getting back into bass mode as of tomorrow.

I just wanta play everyday despite small nagging injuries --

and go home to a woman who appreciates how full of crap I truly am. ~ Crash Davis

I'm really easy to get along with once you people learn to see it my way.

Mr. Squirl....... I actually found a chicken scratch SP a couple of days ago. Looks like it got snagged in a clump of mussels near the Spring Lake/Belmar border. I should be back to the beach next week. Where do you want me to leave it?

You sure the mullet you caught weren't shad?

I think you are right, My eyes are terrible at night, my head lamp died and I've never seen a shad or mullet that big or one hit a teaser and a sp. I was confused on what the hell it was and only thing I really made out was the dot by the gills

Damn; water temp up almost a degree from yesterday. No wonder limited bass fishing; they've all been lulled to sleep and the bait has been cooked in place!

Had to share. Back-to-back mid-teens on a Red Gill Tuesday night out front. Put nine on the sand and had at least that many come unbuttoned. Outgoing tide, light NW, no visible bait. http://www.striperso...000/height/1000

Nice Fish!

Only a few Hickories for me this morning back in the Zone.  Ocean has gone completely flat and very warm.  The only signs of life were Hickories jumping and one chop off of my Slider worm on the ava.  Love the weather, just not what it is doing to the water.  The way its going we won't be seeing frost until December.
