Thought I'd start this one this month.

As usual, post reports here.......as little or as much detail as you would like to provide the reader. Please don't post specific street names or areas. Sometimes just a town name is too much information! Doing so only adds to the traffic in certain areas and it might cause an internet feud. For example, you can say that you caught fish in Ocean County but saying that you got them at Ocean Beach is a no-no. Feel free to share any thoughts you might have on local conditions and "I got the old skunkaroo" reports" are OK too.

Some popular acronyms:

SH- Sandy Hook

NoMoCo- Northern Monmouth County

SoMoCo- Southern Monmouth County

SFZ-Spring Fling Zone (SRI-Shark River Inlet to MI- Manasquan Inlet)

OC Ocean County

IBSP-Island Beach State Park

LBI- Long Beach Island

AC- Atlantic County

CISP- Corson's Inlet State Park

CMC- Cape May County

CMR- Cape May Rips

"In the back" - Rivers and Bays

Let fall begin!

Good start to the month getting my first October striper and chasing the skunk away that has been hanging around much too long.  Picked this one on an olive teaser.  Saw a few hickories jumping and a couple of small blues caught all north of the Zone this morning.  Happy bunker as well as dolphin making an appearance too.  No signs of bait close in and the water still remains off color, but fishable.  Nice roll still out there kicking up the white water.  West wind was getting stronger as I was leaving so may help to clean things up and drop the water temp a bit.  Will give it another look this evening.

Fished the zone this morning 6-9 with one small blue on the teaser to show for. Didn't see any bait in close but did see a pod of dolphins a few hundred yards out. Looked like they were working some type of bait but could tell what. Some nice rollers with plenty of whitewater. Water is a little off color but looks like it's cleaning up. Great morning in the zone.

Nomoco. One keeper bass on bunker chunk. In fact it is my first ever striper, very pumped as evidenced by the smile. Tight lines.

Last night went in the back of the back. Found massive amounts of mullet, and twice as many p-nuts. Weakfish chasing them around. Tough bite with that much bait around, but managed 6 weakies to 22", and missed/dropped about the same. rubber with 1/8oz jig head.

You may have not seen my other post but I want to know what you think about the Vision Surf Eel as opposed to the Sand Eel? I thnk the Surf Eel is close to a 6 inch Bomber so it may be a pretty good striper lure. I haven't tried them out yet though.
