xflyerwdavis
Hello Is it possible to directly connect braided fishing line to a wire leader? Or do I have to tie a swivel onto the braided line? If so what knot do I use to accomplish this. Regards, Walter
ndorosh
I don't think directly but wire is practically useless there is more cons than pros and heavy mono leader material is a hell of a lot better
bass-o-matic
Albright knot 30 turns, sometimes I will lock it in with a drop of Crazy Glue. "I just do what the voices in my tackle box tell me to do."
jrhjr
What kind of wire? I'll generally use a short, bought pre-tied black wire leader for smallish toothy critters. Swivel on the end...Uni the braid to the swivel. I keep a couple of rolls of coated wire leader around if I need a longer one...I crimp those. Tie a spider in the braid and then an offshore knot to the leader. To tell you the truth I usually want a swivel in there if I can get one. Single strand put a haywire and pinch it flat, then the same with a doubled braid line and an offshore knot or an Alberto. powerless
xflyerwdavis
Thank you all for the information on tying wire leader to braided fishing line. I think I am going to dump the wire leader and go with heavy 130# test monofilament leader. Regards to all, Walter Jacksonville Florida
jrhjr
This may or may not work... Â While inshore/nearshore fishing I often use 80 or 100# mono leader for bigger fish. A shark, king, even a bluefish or other toothy fish will cut right through this. That's why I carry wire . powerless
