That happend to me last year, but I didn't lose the steering handle.

On my Outback, There is about 1 thread that sticks out the bottom of the handle. They use a 3/8" screw. I replaced mine with a 1/2" screw and it has stayed tight since (but the screw is rusted badly).

Who cares what color they are? Who's going to see them? "bad ass" - lol

That's what I was thinking.....I wonder if they plan on making the Outback or the Revo transducer ready sometime soon?

The new parts catalog is supposed to be out this week. Maybe they aren't posting till then. They call it a 10 inch hatch. I guess they measure the outside. Either way it should fit in all round hatches. The Turbo fins in red and black look bad ass!!!

Great whites looking at flapping bleeding gills of a hobie ;). Could attract frenzied blues too .

Well, at least they are paying attention (I guess!?). It's funny though. I lost a couple steering handles on my Outback. Hobie swore they never had another report of the screw backing out. I had Revo owner ask me if I ever had the problem on Saturday. He said his is constantly coming loose. Maybe I'm not crazy.;)

Features
MirageDrive
Twist and Stow Rudder
Adjustable High Back Padded Seat w/ Inflatable Lumbar Support
Two-Piece Paddle w/ On-Hull Storage
Large Covered Bow Hatch
Four Molded-In Rod Holders
Sail Mount
Rear Cargo Area w/ Bungee® Tie Downs
Two 8” Twist and Seal Hatches w/ Gear Bucket
Mesh-Covered Stowage Pocket

I stand corrected. As far as handles I don't even keep spare steering handles in stock. I think you are the only person who ever lost one. Something might have been wrong with the stainless post it rides on.

If you google this, you will find MANY instances where the handle has fallen off, and sometimes it is lost. Whether you lose it when that happens is just a roll of the dice. Andy isn't alone. Far from it.

"I lost my control rudder handle while on the road to a lake vacation trip. My daughter said she heard something hit the car."

"Same thing happened to me. 2012 Revo 11, third time on the water. Trouble is that in my case the handle just simply came off unexpectedly and I fumble-fingered it and it went over the side into Davy Jones' Locker "'

"I have the same problem with my new revo 11."

"Yes this happened to me two days ago (Adventure 2010). on a 3-day trip on a lake.
And more! When I tried to screw the set screw back in, and was tighting it, the whole brass bushing came out of the plastic rudder handle."

I was just stupid. I used it as a lever the rest of that day and then forgot about it and put the kayak on my car updide down. That was the first one. After that it just popped off and got knocked in the water. After that, I put the longer screw in and have not had a problem since (other than the rust:)).

Hey, I've dropped whole fishing rods over the side. A dinky lever should be easy. :D

I lost my steering handle on my 2010 Outback, the entire hex bushing pulled out of the plastic and a Hobie dealer had to order one, how a dealer can not have these in stock is beyond me. Wondering if the newer steering lever is any better. I hope so

When you sell thousands of something and only one person has a problem with a part you tend to not see the need to keep that part in stock. I do have few used ones as we strip parts from any replacement kayaks and then give those parts away for free if anybody needs anything. Your dealer should have taken one off a new kayak and gave it to you and waited for the part to put it back on the new boat. That's what I do if I get caught without a part in stock.

My dealer shut down but didn't offer that option. Hard to believe only one person out of thousands had that problem though. Figures, never had much luck anyway.

You should probably email me. You will get top dollar selling it on Craigslist and sell it fast.
