Hunter,
Awesom pics...although I now have a pain in my gut. I can only imagine how you and your family feel now..Just glad you all are safe!
Awful glad daddy pulled the boat!
Glad I had contact with Dad the whole time during the storm..we prayed for safety..glad you guys are well.
Hope you had the rods and reels hung high in the garage! If not, maybe ill come down and clean them for you guys when I can get back on the island...

Overall, my friends up North look like they had it worse...as hard as it is to believe..
Pics of the pier in Pt Pleasant totally gone...I am simply speechless....

There is simply no question that both God and Nature have their plan.

Hey Frank, It could have been much worse. Im sure my dad told you this but we had 3-4 inches left in our cross base until it would come through the floors. We know Longport is still under water. Atlantic City is pretty bad too. But when they had reporters before the storm, there were none here, which surprised us. When the power went off we turned the generator on and when the cable went we turned the radio on.

When that tide started coming in we watched it constantly and put the furniture up on cinderblocks. But someone was watching our house and when that storm picked its speed up to 30 mph and the wind stayed offshore, we were very lucky.

One guy stayed, Candyman, and I can't believe he was good. Swifts docks were in the street and blown away. Some boats were hanging on a single line. We both would have been worrying about all night, so it really took some weight off my dads shoulders.

The rods are fine, I think. Ill check them tomorrow. I was busy today with the house and taking pictures. I would go tog but theres no place to get green crabs.

Only if I could buy hooks and line to then I could make some rigs! When everything calms down, hopefully we can find some hungry striper.

We all appreciate the concerns and the support, and were all grateful that the worse did not happen. Tell everyone we said hello.

We just want to fish!

Talk to you soon, Hunter

I was wandering exactly when you took the pictures of the Margate fishing pier.  I am on the board of directors there and wondering of the condition of it now.  thanks

I'm on the margate/longport border and wondering if my house is still there. Are they letting people back on the island today?

I was one of the Real Lucky Ones. I live on Long Island and came through Sandy in pretty good shape. My power was restored at 4 am this morning and only suffered a damaged Chimney. Lots of leaves and twigs down but nothing more. Something in Photo # 2 struck my eye. In spite of all the devastation "Our Flag" was still standing. NJ took an awful pounding but will recover just we in NY will. Stay safe and Good Luck.

sb

The pictures of the pier were taken at high tide yesterday, so around 830-900

Your house is most likely there, depending on how far away you are from the beach. I know the point was still under water yesterday, Im not sure now. There only letting certain people back on the Island, if your on the emergency list. Im not sure when they are letting everyone on.

Some where taken at high tide tuesday, like the pier picture. The one of the jetty, which suffered extreme erosion, was taken at low tide.

I'm a block and a half from the beach - I rebuilt from the ground up about 6 years ago and had the hurricane beam installed - that was $50,000 alone, glad I had that put in, my biggest worry is that my garage door got blasted in and my tackle, bikes and power tools are exposed - I don't want some lowlife from AC walking by helping himself. I going to try to drive down at noon, hope they let me on the island. Already heard that homes on the beach in longport were devastated.

I don't think a lowlife from ac will just stroll through margate. Everyone knows the cops will stop him and ask questions.
