I have been hitting a rough patch and have been skunked on my last two outings.  Today just a chopped off gulp and that's it.  Surface water temp on the FF was 82.5 which tells the story.

Is anyone else catching fish in the bay or is everyone else out front at the moment. I'd try the ocean but I am a relatively new kayak user and while confident in what I am doing I think I need more time before crossing that road.

Holler at me ...  where are you fishing in RB.  The back, the deep, the river?

My buddy fish closed to the pier the other day on his kayak and caught 20 shorts and about 4 keepers.

Bring a bar of soap and take a bath. :D No, seriously, work the night shift with a soft cooler full of eels and voila! ;)

I fished the Raritan Bay last weekend with a friend. First time in the bay for me but there were maybe 3-5 other yakkers out fishing the same general area. It was slow. We both got a short fluke and my buddy got a small weakie. There were schools of peanuts everywhere and they were getting sprayed pretty good by small weakies and blues. As soon as the wind picked up a bit and it got choppy those fish disappeared.

It was not the pace of fishing I was expecting. I'll be giving it another go in the fall.
