It’s just that we don’t need a Postal service, anywhere as big as it is. Many people, seldom use the mails anymore, everything is done with computers. Packages can be sent by private companies.

It is almost like the railroads, when they switched over to diesels. Unions kept the fireman on for years after they were no longer used.

USPS spokespersons have been adamant in emphasizing that they are not requesting taxpayer funds from the federal government to make this year’s payment. Rather, they say, the USPS is asking Congress to authorize access to an estimated $7 billion that they overpaid into the future retiree pension fund in previous years.

How can you read this and then type what you just typed?

this has to be the most disrespectful and disgusting thread I've ever seen posted

The U.S. Postal Service is running out of time to address its fiscal crisis, as the agency's top official expects to be $10 billion in the red by the end of the month.

Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe told lawmakers on Tuesday that the agency will default on its obligation to prepay its retiree health benefits account and reach its statutory borrowing limit by the end of September unless it receives immediate relief.

After paying $1.3 billion in workers' compensation liabilities in October, the agency will have just one week's worth of cash to cover operational expenses. USPS expects $9 billion in losses next year. By September 2012, the Postal Service likely will be unable to pay its employees and contractors, according to Donahoe.

Only lefties could do the math where $7 billion covers a $10 billion deficit. It's so cute when liberals defend failure.
