I am ready for a new reel. I have 2 Tica Dolphins 5yrs old. Looking for long casting, easy retrieve and durable.

Daiwa Emblem Pro is a good choice if you want casting ability. They run about $160.

You did not specify the length and rating of your rods. If there was a best surf reel then everyone would have it. Shimano Stradic is a good reel for that price range. You can also look for an higher end module in the BST, used but in great condition. A used sustain is a good option.

I have Quantum Cabo's on my Tica rods and they have give me many years of good fishing. Be sure to rinse them with fresh water after each use in the salt.

I would include the Nautil 7500 for 10' on up if you can find one... The most water proof reel in that price range for sure. Just take care of it.

I tested the Penn Battle 5000 and the Shimano Stratic FI 6000 earlier in the year. I had the Battle 5000 on my light 8' rod and thought it was an awesome reel for the price. Best thing about the Battle series is the price. I am still using the Stratic 6000 and I switch this reel around a lot. I pair it with my 9' Lamiglass for surf fishing and then with my 7'.2" Shimano Terez when I am in the boat. I have the Stratic 6000FI on sale for $139.95 as this particular model looks like it's going to be discontinued next year.

Diawa BG60 or Penn 6500SS. You will not go wrong with either. No frills. Just tuff surf reels.
Easy to service. Parts dirt cheap. Left over cash can go to lures.

All good reels mentioned here especially the Saragosa. However, you can find a Diawa STT4500H (NIB) new in box for 175.00. Great reel fewer components and a workhorse for the price.

Also don't forget about the Shimano Spheros. A lot of guys like this reel and it was rated a favorite by many guides along the east coast. Another true workhorse.
