Nice talking with you Ray. Maybe we'll fish together this weekend. Saturday during the day works for me so far.

The Emergers have been replaced by a more expensive model that supposedly is better made. I ordered a pair just a few weeks ago, and was told that as long as I returned the old ones within a week, it would be an even exchange (I would not have to pay the $100 that they went up). The new ones arrived, the old ones were sent back and nothing has appeared on my credit card, so as usual, LL Bean has come through again. The only problem with the new ones that I have is that they're kind of large. Because my foot size is a 12, I can only get XL. However, for free I am not going to argue. The boot is very comfortable; the problem is the length is too long (and I'm 6'3"). I suspect they'll hear this from others and eventually make corrections.

I was recently in my local LLBean outlet store and bought one of the last pairs of the "leftover" Emerger bootfoot waders for $37.50.

Marty K -

Thanks for the detailed response. It looks like you saved me about $100 as well. After reading your email I called LL Bean and explained your experience and told them I ordered my waders (Emerger II) yesterday on-line because my Emerger (old model) is leaking. Naturally, I paid the full amount which was about $100 more than the original.

The person said he could not give me an even exchange except possibly if I canceled the on-line order and returned the old waders and request a replacement then if could be an even exchange. I guess the reasoning is that the old model was discontinued and they need to make an even exchange.

I asked for the supervisor who said that since my on-line order was on the way, she will look for the return and credit me so that I would not be billed the extra $100.

So again, thanks Marty K.

Tight lines!

I also had a similar situation where I could only get a season out of them before a leak appeared.
I went with the LLBean rapid river boot foot (they credited the cost of the emerger) and have used that the last few seasons. I love them. They are a little more rugged and the material is thicker. The boot is a wading shoe which is encorporated into the wader and is VERY comfortable!

This is my 3rd year with same pair.So far so good.I really like em.

Bumpin' an old thread - anyone have a review (positive or negative) for the Emerger II series (stocking foot versioin), which I presume to be the replacement for the discontinued Emerger series? I may take advantage of the 15% off LL Bean sale (which ends tomorrow)

I have the boot foot version and after whole season, I'm still dry. So far so good but the fabric is much thinner than my leaky Orvis

My 3 pairs of emerger waders leaked after a half season. My Emerger ll waders I didn't give a chance , I coated the seams with plastiseal. So far so good, besides you can't beat LL's return policy.

I bought a pair of the emerged ii waders a few weeks ago and they leaked out of the box! I called ll bean and they sent a replacement out, but I would expect a lot more for my $250. I think I found the answer though, which I ordered yesterday. A USA made boot foot wader, basically custom, for $199! Get to pick ur colors and everything. Check out USIA waders.

Best pair of waders I ever bought with lifetime warranty. I hope they can continue to replace them.

As I report the beginning of the 2012, I purchased the Emerger II and have had no problems, so far.

By the way, Lyoyd Christmas, you mentioned plastiseal. What is it and where can I buy some?
