The Navy moved me to Virginia last year. Since I've been here I haven't fished ONCE. I am dying to go. I finally brought some of gear from home. I can buy bait, gas...whatever. I feel like a little kid again asking my father to take me fishing...lol!

If you ever get stationed at Camp LeJeune in NC I would be happy to take you fishing.

Not to Hijack the thread but I plan on coming to Topsail in August 2012 and was wondering if it is worth bring my surf pole and other fishing gear.  Last year we fished a bit in the river behind the island but didn't really get anything.  Some guys we talked to said the water was too warm at that time of year.  Just vurious to get some info from a local.

Thanks.

How long you gonna be here? Do you already have a NC fishing license? What kind of surf gear are you talking about?

I will be there for a week next August, 18 - 25.  I have a 9' and 11' rods that I use for Stripers in NJ.  I'll be staying in North Topsail Bach.  If my brother's friend comes again he may be bringing a boat.  I will have a license in NC, I got one for a week this year while I was down there.

Thanks for the repy by the way.

Hi you should put your request in the Delmarva or (and) Chesapeake column depending on your location. If you are in Norfolk or Virginia beach you are in luck. Best regards and thank for serving your country.

Are you in Norfolk? There is a fishing area on the Bay bridge tunnel in the middle. I would start there.:)

I am in the Norfolk area. I don't have a boat though. I was kinda just hoping that someone out there would be willing to offer an invite. I love togging, and striper fishing...if anyone is interested.

....and for the record, I have posted threads like this several times in the Chesapeake forum. That place is dead. Nobody ever say anything at all in the that forum.

Water is real warm in August and subject to Tropical systems. Might be able to pick up some sea mullet or pompano. Pier might be best. Tarpon moving thru and kings should be around.

Must be at D@S pier's. You gotta be a bubble head! :D
If you have a vehicle, go over and post an add,on base at the, Little Creek Marina. Want to fish, will bring bait, gas etc. There used to be a bulletin board at the entrance. Have you tried MWR on base?
Wander around the marina's in Lynnhaven. In my younger year's I mooched a lot of trip's out of there. Of course I knew how to fish, and I would do free underwater repairs for a trip. ;)
Rudee Inlet is only a short drive away from where your at as well as the outer bank's. When I was stationed down there my wife and I used to drive to the OB's every weekend/ It reminded us of home.
I would highly recommend a kayak, to fish down there. Hampton roads bridge, Lynnhaven inlet inside Rudee inlet. All great places to get the species your targeting. ;)

Opps almost forgot about FT story and Damn Neck.
