I have been driving trucks on the beach for roughly a 32 year period. Except for about 8 years I have had a 4x2. Due to so many folks not knowledgable about how to drive on beaches, several communities down here are considering options on Beach driving. Naturally one is to ban it completely but one is to allow only 4x4 vehicles.

How many of you use a 4x4 and how many use a 4x2.

A 2WD vehicle wouldn't make it in (or out) a lot of the places I fish. Then again most of these spots wouldn't be considered beach driving - more like rock climbing.

Seen many a 4X4 stuck at Fort Fisher. 2wd drive would get in the way most of the time. Can it be done? yes. Smart no. Been driving trucks on the beach since my first in 1975. I would waste my time or money on a 2wd for the beach. I have taken a 2WD the beach and just didn't like it.

You can still take a 4x2 on Nauset. My father used to drive his Subaru and Audi out there. But I prefer 4x4's with lockers. no more push button vacuum seal solenoids for me: thank you.
