so right now i'm using powerpro 20lb on my reel. i've read and heard some really good things about sufix 832 so i was thinking about giving some a try. i know that even though powerpro is rated at 20lb its breaking strength is higher. does anyone know if the sufix also has a higher than rated breaking strength.

sufix 10lb is rated at 27-29 and powerpro is 12-14, dont know about 20 but i say i breaks at a higher poundage.

832 has a higher actual breaking point than the Sufix performance braid across all line poundages. The last time i reviewed actual breaking points of braided lines the Power Pro 10 pound actually broke at an average of 24 pounds, at the time only Fireline was rated higher( but its a fused superline and not a braid).

I have a sheet that has the actual breaking test of most of the lines on the market, but unfortunately i don't have it with me. From what i can recall Power Pro 20 breaks in the high 30 range but don't hold me to it, until i can verify the numbers(with many complaining of mysterious breakoffs who knows what it really is lol, i have had some inconsistencys with Fireline lately also:shock::shock:

Search "Paulus Fishing" in Google. That is my go to website for real world line tests.

thats a great page. he only covers the sufix 832 8lb which shows that it breaks at 17lbs while my 20lb powerpro breaks at 37 lbs. sounds like the sufix 20lb should be stronger than the powerpro. although he states that when the sufix breaks it pulls the strands apart up the line. i may have to get my hands on a spool and try it
