I need new mower blades. I have a riding mower and mulch sometimes and bag other times depending on how much time I have to cut.

I was thinking of getting mulcher blades by the guy at the shop said it wouldn't work for bagging grass or leaves. Why not?

A mulching blade forces the grass clippings upward so that they fall through the blades on their way down. A discharcge blade throws the clippings to the side and into a bag or onto the lawn.

what speed said, if you had to chose just one,go with the mulching blade,no harm using a mulcher blade with a bagging system, just wont be as effective for bagging.

Usually you only have to change blades twice a season anyways, bag in the beginning, mulch in the summer to protect grass from heat, bag again in the fall.

bagging blade produces more vacuum at the mower deck.

I mulch the leaves up and leave them on the lawn. I usually go over them a few times until they are invisible.
