How to make snap swivels easier to open/close?

They are very hard to open. How can i make it easier? These types:

I started using albertos clips and a good swivel to attach my leader to the braid. never looking back...

i was able to get those cheap so i took them and cut the swivle off tied a swivle between my braid and leader, and used the clip on the end. i love it.

That's pretty much what I do with the recessed poppers that are hard to get a Tactical Anglers clip in.

Make your fingers stronger.



Or use pliers.

yep go with breakaways or Alberto clips. If you make the other clips easy to open your just making them weaker then they already are. I have never lost a fish due to breakaways opening up. Wish I could say the same thing for other snaps.

A lot of us make snaps HARDER to open using pliers because out of the box, they often open so easily such that the fish will open them, and well.........

snaps are jus tone more thing to spook fish. I tie a new knot every lure. If you use pliers, only pinch the single piece of metal you are undooing not both sides or it bends/weakens sometimes.

Did you try heat up to red upper bend of the clip by lighter? Time is adjustable. Spring should became weaker. I've never tried but thinking it could help.

if there not spooked by the giant treble hooks hanging off the plug a snap isn't gonna make a difference.

I use Rosco snaps and they can be hard to open and close for a while but do get easier after a time. I don't care for clips at this point. Some brands use heavier gauge wire on their snaps than others. Try switching brands if you don't wanna deal with the struggle. I use my pliers on them till they get easier. DO NOT heat them up! it weakens the snaps. I have not had any snap open in the many years of use. Even after weeks of use.
