I am probably gonna start a s***storm here, but am I the only one who thinks those sandal wearing, reject hippies on the "reality" show Whale Wars are a bunch of morons. Isn't what they're doing - boarding ships, throwing chemicals, etc - piracy? Just would like to hear what everyone else thinks. The missus and I watched a few episodes on the tube yesyerday and we were shocked that such a bunch of idiots hasn't drowned or hurt somebody seriously.....

Although I don't agree with how they go about things , I don't think it's right that the **** get to kill whales under the disguise of "science" in waters they are not supposed to be in....is it stupidity or balls to stand up for what you believe in out in the middle of nowhere , against ships much larger than you?
Everyone has their own opinion. I guess the botom line , for me, is that I'm glad there are people like that standing up for what they believe in , while all the powers to be just ignore it.

Ignore what? The harvest is within the guidelines set by the IWC. End of Story.

Well, only watched a couple episodes, had to laugh. It wasn't about really about saving whales, it was all about them. If the camera's weren't there, those ******s wouldn't have been there either.

Meh... If they want to eat whale, and it's legal to harvest them, I have no issue with it. There are plenty of Minkes anyway, it's not like they're going after one of the ~300 remaining right whales...
I'm just amazed that the captain of the SS routinely puts his crew into such dangerous situations. It's amazing he hasn't killed someone yet.

You have to see the episode where they try to deploy the life raft, good stuff. The scary thing is that skipper has his captains license

When I first starting watching I thought they were a bunch of idiots, but I kept watching....I guess they are achieving one of their objectives which is bringing attention to the cause. I think its funny, if these whales were herring I bet a lot of guys would have a different opinion about the protection they deservere (its my understanding the japanese are harvesting the whales under the guise of sci research, key world guise), I mean people on this board get upset if a five year old catches a herring with their hands.

I thought it was a comedy at first. I watched one episode and it went something like this.

Crew member. " Captain, Captain, Suzy is down on the deck on her back.!!!"
Captain........" Well, go see what's wrong...she looks hurt!!!"

5 crew members run to the rescue
Crew member..." Suzy...Suzy... what's wrong...are you ok!!!!"
Suzy..............." I..... I..... I... Think I sprained my ankle"
Crew member..."""OHHHHH GOD!!!!!... Get her to sick bay."

I am surprised Saturday Night Live has not picked up on that show. I think it would be better with Quint or General Patton as Captain. The cause is fine...but as another poster said it is really all about them not the whales.
