You have roughly 100 miles of coast on the South Side of the Island, 100 miles of coast on the North Side of the Island and a whole lot in the area of Peconic Bay. Lots of State Parks and parking with the right permits. Stick a pin in a map and go for it.

There's almost endless daytime access on the south shore, but for night access, you can buy the Night Fishing permit--starting again next Tuesday. Suffolk County also sells one that allows access to most county park beaches at night.

Seriously--during the fall run, it can be that easy. Find an accessible beach, and fish it.

How about some endless daytime access without parking fees?

This is NY, good luck with that. Pay to Play.

Trying to fish for free is going to be tough until the end of September at earliest. Got your marine license?

Long Island has mostly miles of barren beach with NO life whatsoever. Better off going to Jersey.

The problem you will have is the high cost of permits to fish anywhere with your four wheel drive. east Hampton $290 south Hampton unattainable Suffolk permit for out of towners i think $150 not sure the state is very high for out of towners and for us . so if you want to spend come on up . Good luck.

Are they collecting the parking fees on weekdays, after this weekend?
I moved off the Island 5 years ago, but back then, there was no fee Mon-Thurs. at the state parks after Labor Day.

You asked the same question on the LI Forum...

Hey Guys, so i live in huntington and I'm new to surf fishing. Can you guys tell me any good beaches to surf fish for stripers/blues? North shore and South shore beaches are fine just need to be guided to which ones... Thanks!

Nobody will tell you exact beaches for that is SPOT BURNING... but, you live on LI and any beach has the potential to hold fish. Put your time in and you will find spots.

There is actually over 400 miles of shoreline around the island. The funnest part is exploring them and finding my own spots.
