Is fleece the way to go? Does the fleece go right against your skin? Same on top under shirts etc?

If it's warm weather, but not quite warm enough for wet-wading, I'll wear quik-dry shorts. I'll still put on some socks to control the inevitable wader stench.

Spring and fall, it's polypro long underwear and / or heavy fleece pants. Cotton loses all ability to keep you warm once it gets wet.

I have a pair of LLBean wading pants that I think are the way to go. The material is like light fleece. They have front pockets and zipper back pocket for your wallet. I like them because you can wear them into the tackle shop or Quickie Mart. When you're at your spot, your waders go right over them. stirrups on the bottom to keep the legs down. They are my first choice. If it's really cold, I put a pair of long johns under them.

I'll second that Slick. I also love the pockets for use outside of the waders. I highly recommend these!

I have a pair.
They're ugly and dorky and despite all others comments about them I'm reluctant to walk into a convenience store with them on as they look ridiculous.
Comfortable, yes.
But God help me I want to kick my own a$$ when I see myself in the mirror in them.
I know every drive thru open late from here to Plum Island because of them.

is this with Breathable light weight waders or neoprene? I currenlty use neoprene waders... am due for a new pair soon and thinking of the light weight breathable's.. is long johns and these fleece wading pants enough under light weight waders in the middle of November in the North East?

normally i wear 5mm neo waders with a pair of sweat pants and wool socks

b-ball shorts or poly sweats and add long jons for low temps. I try not to wear cotton cause it holds water.
