Knots: the leader was tied to the mainline by making a loop in the main line then doing the rabbit out of the hole around the tree twice and back down the hole. When you tightened up there was less stuff swirling around in the tide.
End of the season cut the leaders from the mainline and let them stay with the pot. Coil the mainline as was stated into a fish box. What ever you do don't let the bug bite you . I spent a long time chasing those critters arond from LIS to off the shelf. Pull the traps in September and get back in school.

they are called toggles and make disconnecting/changing pots quick and easy. I build and sell shrimp pots here in alaska and the toggles have gone over very well here.
