Are they even legal to own? Wifes bugging me for a pet. We dont have room for the dog I'd want. When i was in college I met a fox-husky cross. Very cool and very smart.

I think Timmay may have had some foxes.

Not sure how they would be as a pet.

Why not a doggie or something?
Ack. Foo.

I would want a german shep but they get alittle big for our place. I want something smart, not too big and kinda wolf like -long snout, pointy ears, bushy tail.

Are you sure it wasn't a wolf/husky cross? I never heard of a fox crossing with a canine.

It looked like a small red husky, maybe 25 lbs. This was like 16 years ago so my memory could be playing tricks on me.

Sounds like a coyote/husky cross. Some yotes are red. We have them here in Ohio.

I've posted these pictures a couple of times. Bear in mind that this is Montana I'm talking about here, not the PR of NJ.

This is a coyote that was found by a farmer when it was about 10 days old, standing by the dead bodies of its parents--apparently killed by a hunter or another farmer. It was raised on the farm as a pet, along with the owner's dog and, believe it or not, cat.

I would assume that, if legal, you could do the same with a kit if you got it when it was very young. I don't know whether you could ever truly domesticate an adult wild fox.

I have a whole yard full of beautiful foxes.

Baby foxes are cute and cuddly. Occasionally we find an abandoned kit and we feed it til it goes out on its own. But when they grow up they are nasty. They bite and they have sharp claws.

That's a pretty animal. Yotes can look so scraggly in the wild. Legality prolly wont matter to me provided I can get me hands on something I want.
