Commute with a few folks that have land down in SC - property taxes are low but the sales tax is now over 9% - they get it somehow.

I think you can find some places down in NC/SC - I'd start searching the web for real estate listings down there and then check out the towns you find and go from there.

Y'all come now y'heah? Been in S.C. since 1980. Lots of us yankees here and more arriving daily. Lower living cost, no winter to speak of (except for Feb this year). Housing costs reasonable, real estate taxes way low......my 2700 ft sq Williamsburg brick/Acre/Great area @ less than $400 per year......that's right.

house for sale i just cant believe it, i know nj has the highest prop taxes in the nation, but paying 6 grand for my little 75x120 patch of dirt seems a little off, considering how they bone you every other imaginable way. tell me these carolinians are on an acre, with mountains and streams and stuff. go ahead rub it in

Extra 2% on the sales tax pays for the schools in SC...
Most property taxes go straight to the local education systems in most states. SC has the right idea

Lake Guntersville Alabama area

I've got family in that area. The folks around there are the friendliest, most genuine people I've ever met.
