theres a fly fishing show that im thinking about going to. its in marlborough, MA all weekend. I was wondering if it had any saltwater fly stuff because i don't want to go to a freshwater fly fishing show (I like saltwater fly fishing).

I have attended the several of the last shows, and they literally have everything fly fishing. A lot of the demostrations are very useful there. Last year I was dissapointed because it seemed like most of the booths were trying to sell trips to travel lodges.

I always go, very informative, a great way to see some new stuff. Plus i like collecting whatever freebies the booths give out, including catalogs lol.

THe show is pretty good. They have a lot of different seminars on both fresh and salt water topics. I will be there this year to see some of the steelhead seminars.

Just got back from Marlboro. If you haven't been then go.talked with a number of tyers[very talented] using Icelandic pony hair, flatwings, dressed salmon fly tyers[really beautiful],etc. All were very friendly and engaging.I picked up a few tips and some fine hackles, even a couple of bargains.met a couple of fellow SOLers so faces are known now.It wouldn't be fair to comment on the show until after in fairness to all who are planning to attend and those that are exhibiting at the show.what you like vs what I like could be totally different. It was worth the entrance fee to me.OH forgot ...Fisher there's lots of both salt&freshwater stuff. It depends on what YOU are looking for.

In previous years there has been plenty of saltwater stuff to see and fondle.

Shakey,

I'm probably heading down tomorrow (Sat) around 11ish. If you want to meet up let me know. Might be a good chance to meet on of this years Keys crew.

I was there today - it seemed like it was starting to wind down (I didn't arrive until 2:30)...highlight for me was watching one of the casting demonstrators (I think he said he's from Greenland or Iceland???)...the guy put on a clinic. At first it was just the basics, but then he was doing all sorts of little tricks with the fly rod (and in fact, cast a line by itself on one occasion). And added some nice humor along with his presentation.

As far as purchases, I basically just picked up some knick Knacks for tying. I did purchase a dozen wooly buggers for $10.00 (although I tie my own saltwater flies, I haven't delved in to the world of freshwater tying except for some occasional wooly buggers and hence, don't have the materials for it)

I went on saturday and had a really great time - I mooched around the main hall for a couple of hours and got some great trout stuff from Cotes and found exactly the grizzly saddles I wanted for mackerel flies at $3 a pop.

I also spent some time with the Hardy & Greys boys and cast the Platinum XD 9' 9# which was a sweet rod for $299. I missed the end of the casting pool by about 10ft...

I chatted to Scott and admired the Manson beard, and hung out a little with some of the tyers - I didn't get a chance to chat to Pete Gray though, he was mid war story

I also got some info about float trips on the Deerfield and cabins on the upper conneticut for the summer - two trips which are realistically cheap.

After that I watched two excellent presentations by Dick Brown on bonefishing and Ed Engle on difficult trout, and got both to answer some of my questions.

All in all, much better than previous years and well worth the $15 entry I thought.
