Hey guys, just wanna know what knot would be the best for my pp. I use pp-barrel swivel-30# fluero-plug. Doesn't happen often but I have lost good fish due to my pp knot popping while reeling in. I use an improved clinch after threading the line through the barrel swivel twice.

I use same knot, doesn't happen to me yet. Try to tighten it better. Or thread it through swivel eye 3 times.

For best results, check the instruction sheet that comes in the PP package for knot useage and tying instructions...

I like to use the palomar knot. Haven't had it fail yet.

I use Power Pro as well.

You might have some bad PP? Your tying a barrel swivel to your PP Then onto a leader. The improved clinch knot should hold where is the line braking? Is it braking or slipping off the swivel?

+1 Palomar for the barrel to braid and clinch on the leader or i. clinch if leader is lighter

Palomar knot is hands down the best knot when connecting braid to a swivel.

That's they way I would go. Most old timers I know do the same. Palomar braid and clinch leader, which in my case is always bigger.

I had someone tell me that an improved clinch will sometimes cut into the knot using braid. Not sure how true, just looking for more opinions. And like I said it hasn't happened alot but has happened. maybe it happened while rubbing some structure, not sure but I guess I'll stick with the same knot (improved clinch).

See that's what I thought. I hear the palomar is best for braid. I guess it'll be a pain in the but rigging my pp to the barrel swivel being I already have my rigs set up on a barrel. I set up a bunch of rigs tying a dropper loop with the barrel rigged into the loop. I have a 3"-6" length on one end for teaser and a good 18" for snap swivel for my swimming plugs. Guess I gotta make a big loop with the braid to fit the rig through for a palomar.

Based on a post by High Plains Drifter, I've been using a doubled five turn uni knot. Hasn't failed in the year or so I've been using it and it is easy to tie. If I supect that I'll have a chance at a larger fish on a particular trip, I'll add a drop of super glue to the knot.

Relax, catch fish.

double the running line then tie to the barrel. I use a bimini to a improved cinch, havnt had that slip once. spider hitch works as well.

I doubt it's bad pp. I know it's not necessary but I put new pp once a year on all my reels. I do a good amount of fishing and would rather have all new stuff. Just one of my quirks.
I also doubt it's slipping, I never see the line curled up when I reel it in. Must be structure.

I thought I read some where to never use any type of clinch knot with braid?

I never read that anywhere. Ive caught lots of fish using the clinch and not had any issues.
