Picked up some Ava 27s at one of those fisherman's fleamarkets and need to add hooks. What size hook/split-ring do you recommend? Plain hook, or one dressed with some bucktail? Thanks.

6/0 Siwash hooks, either open eye or closed eye with a x-hvy split ring - some dressed, some plain

Show someone how to catch striped bass and they'll be ready to fish anywhere.
Show someone where to go striped bass fishing and you'll have a desperate report chaser with loose lips.
We love our stripers - please don't take more than yah need.

BaitBoy -
A lot of Ava's are sold in the stores with the long shank bent aside Limerick hooks, Mustad #31022. The shanks are then covered with colored surgical tubing. It gives the jigs a long sandeel look and the bent shank adds some wiggle. Their great for jigging off of party boats and a good surf lure when the 'toothy bastages' are around.
