I am a rookie to surf fishing and am curious if fish are catchable in this rough pre-Bill weather. My experience is in fresh water and we would just stay home.

I was out this afternoon/evening with the waves just pounding the shore, winds gusting pretty good, etc. Its hard to hold the bottom and its hard to read your rods, but a kingfish, and a couple of spot says the fish are around....

Went out yeaterday for a while to see the building seas and try for that Drum....fishing was pretty tough..near impossible really..hard to wade, hard to get a bait out...hard to keep it out..water was churned up and dirty, didn't catch anything..
beautiful beach day though, with lots of shorebirds where we were...
Ranger came by and told us that they will probably have to close at least part of the OSV tonite (Sat) if the forecast models are correct...
I am hoping that the beach will develop some structure and a few new cuts with this storm, it is really flat and shoaled up now..

Amazing how fast that can happen. Sunday 13 days past the flatlands were beautiful with a narrow slough, wadeable bar, plenty of cuts and points. Last Sunday it was 80% shoaled in. Now nearly completely so. nothing abnormal but still a wonder.

Since fishing is squat was going to go trot-line crabbing today over on the Miles. But my trot-lining buddy says the crabs have gone deep. Hot water and perhaps they can sense the storm.

Think I'll meander down to Bill's and pick up some leader material and hardware and tie up some drum rigs.
