Walmart used to sell a tandem jig rig called the Luv Lure, in multiple colors. Double lead head jigs with grub body, cast and retrive bouncing on bottom. Catches both reds and trout bigtime, and you can try two colors at once to see which is hitting. others make tandem like this but luv is the best. Cant find them anymore, they make them in stPete.

Get a couple johnson gold spoons, TopDogjr. in black/orange, any type of "corky"- soft bodied, big eyes, cork inner body to make it float/work just below the surface - double trebble hooks. keep some bait hooks for cutbait on the bottom, grabbing a nice flounder is always a good pickup.

Over your way , try to find the closest Half Hitch Tackle shop, they can put you on right lures, give you some pointers on working lures and such, I know there is one in Panama City and one in (Destin) ???? You can goggle them up , good shops, decent prices.

Gulp (New Penny) Live Shrimp under Equalizer poping rig , DOA. and of course pin Fish works very well.

Trout out in Deeper water here as the water temp up to 88 ,fish 6am to noon to brutal to stay on water all day.

Are those old 'stand bys' red/white spooks as well as those gold flutter spoons more of just a 'cliche'-ish' suggestion or are they still a valuable part of an arsenal meant to target redfish/specs?

on the specs when you find them artificial shy switch to a small chartruse grub with a half curl tail and the smallest lead head you can find ,find a deep hole that you know usually holds fish cast and let it fall not much action just reel up a little and let it fall they will usually hit on the fall its worked for me

For the surf:

Mirrolure. Crank ... crank ... crank ... twitch ... while playing the waves just right.

Mission Fishin' jig heads with a Honey Hole curly tail or Gulp New Penny Shrimp. I like to jig them jigs with a few twitches thrown in for good measure.

For monster specks in the (not so) secret spot, I've had good luck with a big ol' mullet swimmin' on a cork. And I mean BIG ol' mullet. If I told ya'll what size hook I used, ya'll would think I'm crazy.

BassAssasin/Saltwater Assasin Sea Shads in Cajun Croaker or Calcasieu Brew unless the water is dark then Candy Corn. All fished on the lightest jig possible. 1/16th or 1/8th

For reds; gulp shrimp, johnson spoons also the above^

For both topwater plugs are deadly. Zara spooks, top dawgs

What color plastics you throwing at reds and specs? I'd imagine it might be season dependent.

Alabama eh? I doubt you'll do better than a 1/4 oz johnson gold (or copper) spoon for reds, or a mirrolure she-dog for trout. Not my favorite baits to fish, but if you just want to load up the cooler they'll work.
