I am brand new to the site and the area. I just relocated to NJ from NC and I'm looking into getting into some serious stiper fishing this year. I'm looking to head to Long Beach Island (only a 1/2 hour drive) does anybody know of any good spots to throw it in from the surf? Also, what has everybody's experience been down at the Barnegat lighthouse, been there a couple of times but no fishing yet? What are the best techniques? Clams, eels, plugging etc in this area?
When does everybody usually start seeing fish down in that area? I want to get out there soon and try my luck
Any advice or suggestions would be great Thanks guys!

Where are you coming from? In that 1/2 hour drive you may be passing up some nice spots.

I can show/lead you to some pretty productive fishing areas but, you'll have to kiss a Bluefish first . Shoot me a email and we'll be able to make some planned trips. I dont want to burn any spots, so feel free to contact me via email. Im not too far from the 70/72 circle also......

You should also try chunking bunker on LBI.

I'm in that area as well, and my wife and I go to LBI all the time. I could use a good fishing buddy though, my wife doesn't make a very good fishing partner. "Throw it back before it dies!" Love her to death, but not a good fishing partner. Anyway, send me a PM, I'd love to do some good striper fishing, and there are a few other guys near me that frequent the IBSP area as well.

I don't know if it's the camera angle, but man does your truck look close to that edge!!

I caught my biggest striper on a bunker head in August near Loveladies. The inlet can be great or a waste of time. My brother and I had a blast one year nailing weakies on ultralight tackle.

I wonder what the lighting of Old Barney is going to do to the night bite. Might have to hoof it out on the jetty to get away from it - if that's possible. I haven't been down since last summer so it'll be interesting to see.
