Surf Fishing in Alameda
Posted September 26 2008 - 9:12 PM
Born and raised in Alameda and fished here my whole life except for the beach.
So I live across the street from the beach for the last eight years and I always see people fishing but I never thought to keep track of where and when they were fishing.
So what works well out here; bait (what kind) or hair raisers and broken backs? In coming of outgoing? Moon? Time of year?
I am using a Shimano 6500 Bait Runner with a 9 and 12 foot Okuma Longitude.
Thanks so much -- I feel like a dofus but, that was the one place my dad and I didn't go.

I've never tried plugging there because when the fish are running the bait lines are all over the place. If you go to the beach on a minus tide you'll see that its very shallow for about 200yds out with no holes or structure, which is another reason I haven't plugged there. If you like mud marlin you can catch them all day there.
I'd rather plug up the stripers and halibut in the countless other Alameda/ Oakland spots.
Please read our spot burning policy stickied at the top of the forum.
