Did anybody see the article in the Monmouth County Coast Star news paper about the teenagers that caught a 5' to 6' Great White, they said about 150lbs? They took some nice pic's before they released it, ones in the paper. They were on a 23' Mako.

Scary that them things are that close to shore in the summer. A whitie that size will kill you.

cool , watched a show last night on tv about gw sharks and how they hunt seals at night...they had 50 !! resident gw sharks in the area [south africa]...but didnt attack the locals on the beach , totally into seals .
they attributed the ability to seeing the silhouettes form below, sounds familiar eh ? trolling for GW

I have read the GW pups are around 5 to 6 ft at birth!!!

And the pups hang around an area after birth, eating and growing before taking off on migration.

Research shows the females are not sexually mature until 14 to 15 ft. in length.

Soooo, looks like mom is somewhere not too far away, this "pup" may be a recent birth.

Now how big is a mom that has several 5 to 6 ft pups? Beeeeeeg.

Yup, really do need a bigger boat!!

Way Back when I shark fished near Jacksonville FL we always wanted to tangle with a big White. Now knowing how big they get, it was a good thing we never ran across one. My puny 12/0 Penn Senator full of 130 dacron would have lasted about a minute. Can you say spooled????

I've seen them cruising 1/4 mile off the beach in RI. And I saw a fin go down the Canal one day--while I was wading

Does the name Manasquan Creek ring a bell? Site of the shark attack that Jaws was based on (although many scientists now believe that it was a bull shark, not a white, that was responsible).
