Hi guys,

Quick question. I am going to be staying in AC for the weekend. I have been there many times and always wondered if people fish off the surf behind the casions, specifically the Tropicana. Is it even worth a shot to try?

Thanks!

Sorry Joe, I just couldn't resist on that one. I have never fish the AC area, but I'm sure someone should reply. Yes there is surf fishing to be had there, Bass, blues, fluke etc.

They used to hold tournaments in the first week of June six man team and driving on the beach. I fished it in 1976. We didn't catch, but picked up some girls from Phillie which would be the subject of another thread.

Nobody goes to AC to fish

We used to fish at night behind Harrah's Marina with success, but I haven't been there in years. Last heard they tore all the old docks out. You can always try the small groins along Absecon Inlet by the Flagship. However, unless you really have the desire to fish, I wouldn't bother bringing a rod along, just one more thing to worry about. There are plenty of other things to keep you occupied.
Fishing is a lot like yoga, except you get to kill something.

If anyone knows if AC is fishable, would love to hear it. Can't see why not. I stayed on the 42nd floor of Taj a few weeks ago. Got a looksee for the first time of the water/sand from a bird's eye view. But I was high enough to be in the clouds several days, not clear but got a peak and feel) I never knew there was that much past the dune! And I saw broken up jetties every hundred yards or so that reached out. Took a walk. Good wash and wave, surfers were out and about. Also walked under the piers (don't go under the pier too far, I think folks live there , stay frosty)and it was rolling in there, a soupy wash, termoil between the pilons. Broken shells all over. Thought something has got to be here. Looked very fishable. Saw some old timers walking the jetty rod in hand making their way, was inside, no chance to ask.

Never had the time to break out a rod, but was wanting to as the beach is empty in early morn, got to see that myself from the room.

AC guys, not looking for spots, but if I'm down there, would love to know if I should tag the front while there. (I'm sure the casino would love to see me trudge in in waders, rod, Carbon, rig, wet in the AM

Thanks for the advice. For the record, I am not going to AC to fish. Going down for the casinos and some entertainment. I just figured with the surf in my backyard, I would wet a line. I will give it a shot and will post if I happen to get anything

Last summer I was staying at Caesars. I was waiting for an elevator to go back to my room to get some more $, about 3:00 am. The doors open and out steps a guy in full fishing outfit, waders, rod, surf bag, ect. He caught me be surprise I didn't ask him what the fishing was like but quite a funny sight to see in a casino. The world record was caught in Atlantic City, about 78 pounds or something close to that. It might be better to spend some time on the beach than feeding the slots.
Best of luck.

They actually fixed it up nicely. Brand new lighted walkway that wrapped all the way down to the west side of the Brig.Bridge.. Plenty of action there at night when the tides are moving.. But the last time I was there (about a month ago) Guess What ? NO FISHING ALLOWED SIGNS

Trash build-up from the local anglers became a bit to much for the casino brass to deal with.. So another SPOT bites the dust..............
