Figured this one out by mistake, don`t know whether it`s a well-known method, but I have`nt seen it before.
Have ruined quite a lot of peacock herl by trying to strip it with an eraser. For some reason the "very easy method" it`s described as a lot of places, does`nt work for me Instead, tie in some wool-yarn on the hookshank(like making a tail for a Red Tag trout fly). Leave it with plenty of yarn showing. Tie in a peacock herl by the middle, using two "normal strenght turns". Pull the herl back and forth while it tied in by the 2 turns. Done. If there`s anything left, do another turn of thread to tighten it around the herl, then pull the herl back and forth again, and the rest will be removed.
Hope it`s undersandable, or I`ll get the camera out
