From the university, go directly east till you hit the ocean. From there, you have a choice, right or left, and there is no bad choice, both directions will put you into quality areas to go fishing. Lucky kid.

I was about to post basically the same thing as Ed White. I think there is at least 1 SOL member that attends MU, if your son is also into fishing. Good luck.

Ahh Seven Presidents Park...I used to surf that area in the early 90's before the SCREWED it up with the new sand. I bet those jetties were something else back then.

As for spots in Monmouth County from 'Squan inlet to the tip of the Hook - there's no point in trying to list them. There is so much structure it's hard to go 50 yards without seeing something worth casting at, be it rocks, a bar, a rip or a hole.

MU is located tight in the center of it all. Hit the beach, go north or south and keep moving until you find fish.

I'm really easy to get along with once you people learn to see it my way.

Thanks for the tips (and the financial sympathy) If the fishing is good he may have a few unannounced visits from dad.

Atwood, if you turn on your PMs, I'd be more than willing to help you as I am an MU student.

True, they have to go through the SOL hazing ritual first.

I actually tried to get a job at MU when I was in my 20's for one reason only: to be closer to area beaches to fish!
