OK, I think its fast becoming the time when I need to part with my boat. Will be ready for a new one soon, but this may be done right now. Recently sunk $600 into a new carb. Last week, running along very well, suddenly the engine bogs down (second time in two trips, first time restarted and carried on fine the rest of the day), this time she take a while to get going again and when it does, seems like its only running 3 out of 4 cylinders. AND, making alot of noice out of the top of the motor (in the area of the starter and stator). Found a bad plug wire, replaced that and put 4 new plugs in for good measure. Now she's seems to be running on all 4 but still not at full power and still making lots of noise from the top. sWent away for the weekend and come back to find the bildge area completely flooded and the boat nearly ready to take on water over the stern.. So, bad motor, taking on water and I dont' feel like dropping any more $$$ on this old girl. How do i dump her? Not thinking it really sellable in the state she's in. I feel like this boat was one of those "starter" marriages. You know, the first one where you learn what not to get the second time around . This was my first, her third (I'm the 3rd owner) luckily she didnt' ruin me comepletely, moreso, she taught me what i really want out of my next one

Donate it to the Seascouts. They'll take any old rusty scow, and you get a tax benefit.

Post in the Buy/Sell/Trade forum that you'll trade someone it for a NIB Abu 6500 Mag Elite reel with upgraded high speed SS gears and a power handle.

You'll have a new reel worth $265 and someone else will be stuck with having to dispose of your piece of junk.

If needed, lie through the teeth about recent upgrades and the fact that you have, or will get the necessary paperwork to transfer title.

if it is a popular boat make, you can definately sell it as a "project." or at least give it away.

donating it is probably the easiest, or remove fuel then cut the gas tank out of the floor if that's the case, and take the hull to the junk yard. They'll smash it up. Bye Bye o'l filthy *****.

K O Q, Maybe I might have a interest in the boat. Not that it is anyone's buisness except between me and JimK.

If it's nobody's business, then why publically announce that you just sent him a "private" message? He's know he got the PM when he checked his PM's, right?

So, do you have an interest? Because if you did, and you expressed it here, then perhaps someone else who wanted to unload a free boat would contact you. See how it works?

Last boat to leave here was disposed of with a sawsall and a dumpster, but if the Seascout could use the boat that's the route I would take. IMHO.

Also check with your local tech high school they may be able to take it for a project boat.

K O Q, Thanks for the advice. I've only been a active member here since 2001 and still havent figured out how IT works. I dont send or recieve a lot of P.M.'S so I was just following what I see posted on the many threads here. If anyone sends me a P.M. Please state it in the thread so I know I got one. I dont always look at the little bar on the forums main page.
If I was soliciting for a free boat I would have asked on the B.S.T. forum. I didn't see anything here about Free, Just had some questions for Jim that would have been to long to post here.

If you have a vocational school in your area. Contact them and see if they have a marine shop. Some vocational schools offer this program. Were as they work on boat and motors. They might be looking for a project boat to work on.
