Who has a basic run-down of the cast net regulations for this state?
I bought mine in florida, and thus don't have much of an idea what this state requires as far as any liscensing process for using a net goes.
Any help would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance.

TheStriperWrestler, check out the "Alewives" thread, should get your answer there.

So according to the Alewives thread it is illegal to use a cast net, but would that only be for Alewives or all species in Maine?
I am also trying to find a local authority to ask... maybe I will catch up with him today.

I asked around last year and was told that you have to have a commercial license to use a cast net for herring. Don't know about macs or alewives. Check the DMR site and see if there's any regs there.
