no experience with the surface bull gt. However, large surface cruisers is 8" 3 1/2oz is A MUST plug in my bag.. it casts like rocket.you can launch it really out there(far far away). it has a supreme and unique action.. when large bait present.. those are the only top water plug i throw..
the experience from mine.. all the fish that hits that plug and landed is either a chopper or a 20+ bass... lost couple never landed..
talk about the bad part of the plug.. the factory ring is not that strong enough(when you had 2 10lb blue on one plug it will break off easily).. the hook seems too big for me so i downaize to #6.. the paint won't hold and it chips like egg, but don't worry about it(it still catches ). enjoy
my 2 cents

I have used a "Yo-zuri Surface Bull GT" lure, NOT in the Jersey coast for stripers BUT a long way from there. It is a monsterous lure that casts very well. The paint chips like egg like what livewithstripers mentioned. After a couple of my use the plug looks like it has been used for a long time. The hooks give the lure a lot of beating to the finish. The finish should not matter much with a Surface Bull GT lure because I think a fish could not take a clear look at the plug when it is at work due to a very aggressive surface disturbance.
I have used it only a half a dozen times and have not yet caught fish with it, but heard of good results. Anyway I don't catch with other lures too . I think it should be a go to plug when too much of a top water disturbance is required.

The finishing on Surface Bull GT 200 may not be the toughest out there but don't worry because it will keep catching you fish even when every last bit of paint is gone! Oh yeah remember to change the split rings/hooks because the factory fitted ones are really weak!

I got a even bigger version of it for this spring - a 5 oz. 8" white-with-red-head monster from Strikepro America made for tuna with VMC trebles and 200# test split rings. It will be a perfect weapon when big bass are surface-blasting bunker schools.
