BluCs
Way late I know, but I had this exact problem on an old blazer years ago. I figured out where thee leaky hole was then screwed in a sheet metal screw, and slathered the whole thing with Marine Tex epoxy. Done in 5 minutes. The tank was still going strong when I sold the rig several years later.
riarcher
mmm...how ivory soap withstand the fume pressure? IT'S A JOKE [/quote ]The old tanks were not presurized. No EPA then. But worked great as a temp. Softer bar soap, work in well. The gas reacted with the lye in the bar soap and hardened. Not sure how it would be on presurized if you tried it with the cap off (depresurized) for awhile,, then tighten.
siaeera
If tank leaks it is the 1st sign of pending rust through and probably not repairable. Put a drip pan under it for the time being and don't fill it again till it is replaced. If its a fitting or valve, fix it.
msrief
Ditto what Paco said Ivory soap will 'seal the deal', as an old mechanic's fix.
