Pflueger ROCKET

Sorry about the link.

The Rocket was a middle of the road Pflueger reel, below the Akron and Supreme (which cost $35 in 1950) and above the Skillcast and Nobby and other contemporary reels. Even if this reel was not made as long as others, parts are still quite common (the current Pflueger Corp., a division of Shakespeare which was just purchased by yet another company will not have parts). You will very easily find a new level wind, pawl, or what you need from many other sources. A quick internet search will find it for you. Robert A. Miller has written about the history of this reel, and schematics for servicing are also available on-line.

It is a workhorse reel that is still used by some in vintage fishing tackle tournaments. It is definitely not a knuckle buster.

These are well built reels of old design.  I would not consider them "Knuckle Dusters".  They have a standard star drag, knuckle dusters have handles that turn with the spool even when the fish is taking line from the drag.  That would bash your knuckles when you were not careful.  They are not casting reels and have no free spool feature so when you release the lever you back reel the line.  They weigh about an ounce more than a Penn 109 but have a slightly faster retrieve.
