ok... helped an older gentleman clean his garage a few days ago... found these 2 reels among his stuff.... he told me to take them .. he hasnt used them in years.....
Any info on them please.... Levelwinds... looks to be all stainless ...both sides engraved... one side has what looks to be a striped bass on the bottom with Kingfisher GK-60 on top....

Pretty reels, not terribly rare. 70's era, maybe a bit older. I've seen maybe a dozen or so turn up at the local flea mkts over the years.
Guessing at their value, 40-60 dollar range in ex-mint with no box.

I was given a Garcia GK 71, looks similar to GK 60, except larger, is there in info on these reels, such as specs, value, etc....

I've been curious as well.

How well do they cast? Bearings, Bushings?? (looks like knockoff Penn bearings)

Steel, aluminium or plastic spools?

Pot metal inside or all brass and steel ?

Gear ratio ?

For parts you can try Mikes Reel Repair. He has a website just at the usual suffix to the name.

I'm from South Carolina and we surf fish for Channel Bass(AKA-red fish, spot tail bass, red drum, puppy drum and bull reds, etc.) I bought a couple of GK-60s in the late 70's to try. Not much to them. Inside is basically a copy of the penn number 9 but not quite as good. The only stainless is on the outside. Was ok but did not cast as well as the 9's. As with the 9, did best on 8 1/2 to 9 ft. rod and 3 oz or less. The penn squidder(finned spool) surfmaster and Newell's worked so much better with 10-12 ft. rods, twice the lead and in big surf (normal for oct.,nov.)
I still have one, and I have seen them on e-bay going for $15.-25. as well as some manuals. Mine has small head phillips screws on the side plates and a garcia style acorn nut on the handle, not the penn style nut with notches.
A search for garcia kingfisher + model # will turn up quite a bit including this site.
