  1. For sale is a new with tags, never used Daiwa Lexa-WN 300HS. 7.1:1 and weighs 10.4 oz., but holds 300 yards of 55 pound braid or 200 yards of 80 pound braid. Has CRBB bearings and also has an additional magnetic control. I’m looking for $150 PayPal FF shipped to northeast and mid-atlantic states via USPS Priority. Reel will be carefully packed with bubble wrap.
  2. For sale is a new, never used Allen Trout II (Size 1, which is generally appropriate for 3 and 4 weight lines). IMHO, these are very nice fully machined aluminum and have smooth drags with a wide range, from light pressure to high. They have a very low drag start up. Also included is a new in box, Sage (Built by Rio) Performance Taper II fly line. The line has never been out of the box. The reel cost me 140 and I paid about 30 for the line. I am asking for 95 shipped USPS and I would prefer PayPal. Thanks for looking.
  3. I have a new never used or spooled up Penn spinfisher VI 5500 for sale. I think I threw the box out but reel is new, never used, or spooled. Is in mint condition. Looking for $170 shipped PayPal friends and family.

  13. As the title says I am new to saltwater fishing. My in-laws live down on the island and introduced me to it last May, I've been hooked ever since. I was born and raised in the finger lakes and am used to catching lake trout and salmon, but this was another world to me, just about burned out my salmon rod in the saltwater and I couldn't even cast as far as needed.... The in-laws let me borrow one of their casting rods and with that I managed a measly 8" striper, I was so exited. The next cast produced a keeper fluke, something I had never seen one before. They made a fantastic supper out of it and that is what hooked me on the saltwater fishing, good fighting and even better eating. I have been watching John Skinner's videos on YouTube and have purchased a new rod and reel based off of what I could interpret from his videos( A 7'6" MH Blair Wiggins speed stick with a Penn Fierce III Reel and 20lb braid). I have also been stocking up on various Gulp and bucktails. I have yet to really use this setup in saltwater however, it absolutely kills as a jigging setup for Lake trout and Atlantic Salmon. Getting to the point of saltwater being new to me and wanting to put a good impression on the in-laws, how do I fish for Fluke, Weakfish, blues, and stripers successfully? I have access to a 12' rowboat with a 9.9hp outboard (currently rebuilding the boat part) and will have access in the Shirley, Narrows, New old inlet, Belport bay area. I know that I can't get get a specific answer here (for obvious reasons) but anything helps! I keep reading that people are talking about backbays? what are those? Here's what I know/ have already figured out: 1) Fluke like edges/ channels and stay close to the bottom, a hi-lo rig with gulp and a bucktail works 2) I haven't tried anything else I'm hoping to be back down there mid may- mid June I'm new to the site as well and don't think that I can DM yet? any help with this is also greatly appreciated.
  14. Looking for a few nice old smaller redfins. Preferably in new condition. whatcha got?
  15. Looking to sell my Abu 6500 Chrome Rockets. I have 2 available. brand new. unused. Box and all. They can be considered an ultimate version for fishing with include all mod parts. Stock frame is a levelwind CS. Included is a one piece CNC'd factory Abu 6500 TSR Tournament Casting CT frame. I find this frame better than any aftermarket frame. Sits super low on the rod. Almost 5mm lower then stock frame. Super one piece. Does not bend at all. A must for power, or full blown tournament level casting. PMR Stainless Steel, main gear and pinion gear. 6.3:1 ratio. The only way to really get power from the carbon drag washers. No need to worry about stripping like the factory brass pinions and main gear Youll be able to use the reel at 10-20lb drags if needed. Will include all parts with the reel, so you can use either reel is CT or in levelwind form. Only takes 2 minutes to change to either form. in CS or CT form, this reel is a proven caster. Will upload pictures in a bit. $400 shipped each. I actually have 4, if wants if these 2 sell before you see this thread.
  16. Looking to sell my Century 13' Graphex Tip Tornado Supermatch LD (low diameter) rods. They are brand new, unused. Tags still on them. Built by Century in the UK about 2 months ago. Super slim and incredibly powerful rod. Will handle full blown 5-6oz pendulum casts easily. 2 equal piece. Can be used with casting reel or spinning reel by factory design. Super Match tip, meaning the tip is more sensible to bites and sits better in current, not a stiff tip. Titanium guides. Sliding reelseat, fish it high reel or low reel. Comes with a really nice bag that can hold 2 rods inside. Rod loads progressively and wonderful to use. But YMMV, you must like distance casting or practice distance casting to really get the best out of these rods. Currently wait times if you order one is about 2-3 months. Uploaded are just stock pictures. they are exactly the same. Ill take an actual picture in a bit. 2 available. $600 shipped each firm. i think it sells stateside for about $825 and I dont think thats the newest generation model like mine.

Will be walking the beaches with an 8'6" Tsunami Trophy II rated at 1/2 to 1-1/2 oz. Hopefully this will be addressed in Skinner & Hromin's books when I take a look. Thanks, -M

  23. Hey Guys, I'm looking to get into striper fishing and was hoping for some advice on gear. I'm most likely going to be fishing off jetties or piers in the MA/RI area, as well as the canal. I was checking out the St. Croix mojo inshore in a 7 foot 6 medium-heavy or heavy, with a Penn battle 2 or Daiwa bg for a reel, either 4000 or 5000 sizes. I also have an older 1o foot Penn pro guide surf rod (pgs1530s10) and a Penn 750ssm reel from my dad. Should I save my money and use what I have, or do you think I should invest in the new setup? I was also thinking of running either 30 or 40 lb braid with a 50 lb fluorocarbon leader. Would that be a good choice for line? Any advice or tips would be much appreciated.
  24. Title says it all. Let's see what you guys got.
