I stayed in kill devil hills this past summer for a week. I stayed in a hotel tghough butthere are still plenty of houses in the area. There was lots of restraunts stores and bars along rt158 i believe which is the main road on this part of the island. I stayed right on the beach there is alot around here in the area for restraunts there is a sonic, dairy queen, some pizza places an applebees fast food places and a place called mako mikes. which was very good but pricey. Nagshead which is the next town up has more houses I beleive but not as much places to eat shop and go out.any questions shoot them at me and i'll answer back with what I know.

Kitty Hawk, kill Devil and Nags Head are more built up for tourists to keep the women busy. Not to far of a drive to Oregon Inlet which is known for fishing it has 4X4 access and is where all the charter boats leave from ...

I myself Stay in Rodanthe which is about an hour to Hatteras and 30 min from Oregon .. the women may enjoy a ride, and ferry over to Ocrackoke .. with little shops to burn a day away.

Thanks for heads up guys! Was thinking the north end for food & entertainment (live music & beer). But when looking at the google earth image, that inlet down south caught my eye....

Be aware, during the summer Oregon Inlet beach is closed for nesting beach. The prime fishing beach in that area closes in mid May and will probably stay closed till mid August.

Thanks for the heads up. Looking to come down either last week of August or first week of September..

We go yearly...11 years running and have always stayed in Avon. Quiet area. A few dining options nearby and you're close to Rodanthe and Buxton. For rentals we rent Tranquility Base or Southern Pride. A block off the water but they both have views, hot tubs and lots of parking. Food Lion is there so you'll be able to get groceries.

I'm not a fan of Duck...too snotty. NH/KDH reminds me of Va Beach Blvd - nothing but stoplights and stores. If I wanted stoplights and stores I'd stay home.

When looking for a house some rental places tack on a TON of fees. One company...and I can't find 'em now...has none. Others, like Hatteras, slam you with a bunch of them. Not sure what you're used to or if this is the norm or not.
