Default Avon next week, any early drum?

I'm heading down to Avon this coming week and was wondering if the Drum might show up a little early this year? Also when using a fish finder rig, is mullet the best bait and what size chunk?

Not sure if any big drum have made it back down yet, although there are some scattered reports of pups and yearlings.

Best bait depends on who you ask, but mullet is right up there. More important than what you are using is probably how fresh it is. As far as the size of chunks, I have seen guys cut a finger mullet into 3 or 4 chunks. Quarter sized. Fishing in places with the strong currents where you need long casts small baits make sense, but I like a bigger bait on an open beach.
