Duck, NC This Week. Surf or Yak fishing?

Im heading down to the OBX for 4 days with the family in Duck NC starting on Thurs. I normally surf fish however I bought two kayaks this year in March and have been am bringing them this trip. Whats best this time of year? Surf or Kayak? If kayak where should I try and what lures work best? I can go use the cast net and get live bait or I can throw a grup or plug? I have never salt water fished out of a kayak as I normally use them for Trout/Bass fishing.

Any suggestions would be welcome! Thanks guys....

BTW-took the lady out on the Patapsco River this past week and she caught her first fish, a Small Mouth Bass on my new rod. She then proceeded to ask when I was going to buy her a rod... lol

I am going to Corola the 1st week in August please let me know how you did and any suggestions. I am going to try surf fishing with a fly rod. I have never done this but looking forward to do so

Where in MD? I live in Columbia MD but work in DC. I do have a fly rod but will not be bringing it this trip as its only a 5 wt I use for trout and bass.

I am in Bel Air. I just bought an 8wt colton off E bay for 110. plus 11 for shipping. Seems to be a real nice rod

I just bought my first fly rod from Orvis this month on a sale they had due to getting hooked on fly fishing in May from a trip to Northern PA.

Do you fish Gunpowder much? I went to Patapsco for the first time yesterday and caught a few fish off and the lady caught the small mouth above. It was a good time for all.

Any suggestions from anyone on the OBX question above????
