I'm heading to Corolla for a few days next week. Going to be staying at a place on the beach. I don't have much experience fishing that area but I'm under the impression that it is a transition period. The migratory fish have headed north and the water is still a bit chilly for resident species to be very active.
I would really appreciate any suggestions/recommendations on what I might try to target and where, not specific locations, just general suggestions on whether time would be better spent on the beach or in the back bays. I can do heavy to light tackle, and fly to spinning/conventional. Many thanks in advance. |

Advice? Go as far south as you can. Water temps in Corolla is in the high 40's. Buxton has high 50's-low 60's on the south beaches. The fish are staging off the south facing beaches.

Longcaster - thanks for the advice. Don't think I'll make it down south this visit. Simplifies my packing.
