Default spanish mack fishing from the beach

I just got a 6' and an 8 ' custom rod and got a reel that would fit both. The 6' actually just launches the stingsilvers. So what would the best ways to fish for spanish macs from the beach in virginia and NC and what would be the best beaches to do this at. Also what lures, colors, actions do I use

I don't have a wealth of experience (yet) with SMs from the beach, but I did get into them pretty good last October along the Crystal Coast (from Morehead to Jacksonville). Just using 3/4oz stingsilvers and casting as far as possible. Then, reel as fast as you can!!! It was really that simple.....

Most times on Hatteras, the 8' will work better.

Great redo in the other thread.

do sting silvers actualyl wobble(like i thought they did), or they siomply dart through the water and drive bluefish crazy.

REAL Stingsilvers like the 2oz and the 6oz wiggle and zigzag, like a walk the dog spook action. Most prominent in the 6oz version.

glass minnows are the ticket. if the blues are around, they'll hit anything. if you're specifically targeting the spanish, you need a fast real. stradics are favored by a lot of the guys, but anything with a high ratio will do it.

10lb braid (or mono) joined by an albright to 20/25lb fluorocarbon works well. no swivels are anything like that. spanish have incredible eyesight, and are keen to the air bubbles that the metal ripping through the water creates, no joke.

some say it's all about color, some say it's all about technique. last august through mid September, the breadwinner was the white with natrual/moss stripe. last one on the right. all of the tackle shops, and even some of the grocery stores in buxton, frisco, hatteras carry the things. early morning, and just after sunset were killer times. launch it, and rip it in as fast as you can. also, i like to replace the treble with a single hook...makes releases a lot easier.

Default I'll second the glass minnows

Also try diamonds jigs - they're cheap and they work.

I never target them specifically, but I seem to always catch them when using Kastmasters.
