Default Way south of OBX

Fished the Cape Fear River in Wilmington NC over the weekend. Managed 3 stripers with the biggest being 25inches. I moved here from MA a little over a year ago and these are some of the first stipers I have caught since then so I am pretty excited even thought they are small. Swim shads did the damage. Ive heard they can get close to 40inches in the river so I cant wait to get out at night with some eels.

Way to go.

Funny, I was just cruising the net looking for some info on that area. We're looking at an Easter week camping trip and I think we may set up at Carolina Beach State Park. I was wondering if the river would produce that time of year, as well as the surf.

Hey jellybear I havent fished Topsail at all but am looking to try out some spots up there this spring and summer.

passiton while there probably wont many if any stripers around in the river around Easter there will be plenty of other species to target. People I know that have camped at Carolina Beach State Park have really liked it.

Doesn't need to be stripers, as anything that puts a bend in the rod will be welcome at that point. I'll also fish frontside. Any idea what I could expect from either?

Should be able to catch some drum and specks in the river.

Thank you. We went over the plan last night and may now only be stopping briefly in that area. We're looking farther south to St. Augustine. If I keep working on it, we'll hit the keys yet! Hello snook!

Got my biggest NC striper yet at around 27inches. It was the most fun Ive had in a while using light tackle. My buddy got a picture as well as a video.
