Default 4x4 shop in Hatteras area?

I've got a problem with my Suburbans fwd,and won't be able to have it looked at here at home before I leave for the OBX tomorrow night.Anyone know a reliable, honest shop in the area? Thanks,Bobby.

try the auto repair shop at the reddrum shopping center or cape point exxon .
if they can't take care of it they will tell you who can .
if i ever had a problem that is where i would check .

But........Be prepared to pay out your nose, ears and well you get it.When your the only game in town you can pretty much set your own prices. And right after X-Mas I'm sure that would be a blessing for them.

Default Right on the money Derf.......

John Couch, a personal friend of mine, a fierce open beach access advocate as his father was before him, owns the Service Station next to Red Drum Tackle. From PERSONAL EXPERIENCE let me relate that not only will your repairs be done correctly, at a reasonable price, and on a timely basis but with all the hospitality you would expect and recieve from Hatteras Island residents. I will guarantee that your experience there will be better than at home and for nearly the same amount of money.

BTW........right about now, due to the world class decisions being made by the Department of Interior Managers, the entire Hatteras Island community is experiencing a financial meltdown much greater than what is going on in Rhode Island. If you are a 'RIMS' member ask the President of that organization about what John Couch's support of United Mobile Sportfishermen, Inc has done for beach access in Rhode Island and all East coast beaches for that matter.

WOW............Sorry, I didn't mean to get crazy but some times I have a hair trigger.

Thanks guys.I think it's just a universal,or maybe a linkage problem.The 4wd works,but at speeds over 10 mph,the truck shudders and shakes.

ITs like anything else......some places are good...some arnt. I know guys who got a fair shake....I also know guys who got screwed. So like I said, its like it is anywhere else, some good and some bad.

The afore meentioned place next to red drum is good. There is a place down in buxton next to buxton glass that did ok by me too.......

How do you justify 350 bucks to pull some Tourist out of the sand?

Never had to use the towing, but the fact that they usually leave the compressor on helps out many a folk. Why can't the NPS in Hatty do somehting like they do in AI and put a pump in at a ramp or two.
I would imagine having an OBPA sticker on your truck helps when in Hatty also..

because that would be justifying or condoning osv use ..
or it's the same reason there isn't a bath house like up at coquina beach or at canadian hole ...they don't want 'us' there !!!!!!!

They put in pumps they'll likely put in an ORV access fee like AI. Part of the justification for AI increasing their fees was they said the federal OMB demands that ORV maintenance costs such as the air pumps has to support itself. Give me free beaches and I'll get my air at Red Drum or Askins Creek.
