Does anyone know what their actual season is??? I know it can vary, but is it posted anywhere????

I cant stand fishing near them....If they so much as see a single sign of a fish, they will not hesitate to put out right next to you (or even around you).

Default I had a crush on a beautiful girl named Dory,

Even 40 years later I think of her tanned thighs whenever I hear the word Dory,Sorry.

it is the beach siene season which opened. they are only allowed 1400 yds of total length net which must be conected to the beach. it closed yesterday, anyways. I think it is the drop netters you dont like

no, i think its the siene netters.....rushing up and down the beach with their trucks and boat attached looking to suddenly rush out through the waves and catch a stray school that is working close to the beach.

I know that there is a tonage quota for their season, but i didnt know when exactly they were allowed to "fish"

drop netters always semed to piss me off more dropping their nets right on a school of fish we were working. different seasons are open for different periods. kinda confusing unless you keep up with it. you can find all the info on the NC marine fisheries page.

I hear they are up on the Northern beaches without much luck. A few Dogfish and a Drum or 2. Thanks Dewy.

pretty much what I heard as well. I did hear of some stripers netted somewhere south of there, drop netted, off the beach outside of 3 miles, out of the season.

The commercial striper season is open and closed by proclamation by the Director of NCDMF, which can be monitored by going here: http://www.ncfisheries.net/procs/index.html

This year shouldn't be as many folks on the beach as commercials have to use true beach seines, twisted multi-filament line, verses everybody & his brother running a shot of large-mesh mono gill net off the beach as has been the case in past years.

Are any of you offended by this picture? Wonder why I don't go to the OBX while the haul seining season is open?

No more than I am with the charter, party and rec boats slaughtering the fish in June in Jersey when the bass are on the bunker. More are probably killed in one week at that time than the beach seiners catch in a year.

Sure comms catch fish and the scenes are graphic. But nothing like the charter, party and rec boats coming back into places like Atlantic Highlands day after day with every legal fish they can kill.

so....since you have such a problem with the haul seine and wont fish in NC what did you did you during the slaughter of juvinle fish (aka 24 inch) in NJ? chekc the numbers.....far more fish never got to breed because of YOUR state than were ever killed in the nets you seem to not like.....just curious??????

not trying to start a fight (0ne we have had far too many times here) but since yu have such an issue with NC....I was curious about your stance on NJ.....have a nice day.,
